- Either William Hays (Great Grandpa x 7) or Hardy Hays (Great-Grandpa x6) fought in the Revolutionary War and thus received a land grant of 200 acres in Georgia.
- Jean Jacque Reneau (Great Grandpa x 6) was born in 1739, immigrated from France, married a girl from North Carolina (Mary Ann) and lived to be 100.
- Richard Glover (Great Grandpa x 10) was born in England in 1611, fathered William Glover with Mary Booker in Virgina, but then somehow made it to Indonesia in time for his death in 1684.
- Arthur Jordan (Great-Grandpa x11) was born in 1595, died in 1635, and immigrated from England to Virginia somewhere in between. (The first Thanksgiving was in 1621)
I'd love to find more info out about the Polings, Jamesons, and Youngs...does anyone know the names and birthplaces of John Milton Poling's parents, Grandma Poling's parents, or Granny Merrick's parents?

Peggy has done a ton of research. I have a packet she put together filed away somewhere with lots of info. I'll try to get it and mail it to you!
Fascinating stuff!
This is great, Meredith. I know Granny Merrick had Wilsons and Youngs. Betty Leavelle should know a lot too. I will ask her.
this is a really great feeling to know where you come from, it kinda describes exactly why you are you.
Ancestry is fascinating stuff. Simply cannot comprehend a) being given 200 acres, potentially secured means of income and survival for you and your heirs b) emigrating to the then unknown, the new world. The bravery and I imagine, the expense is incredible. Great post and an interesting blog. Keep it up!

wow ... fascinating... seem like you doing a family tree research. Do you aware of there is a software available to keep track and write down your family tree.
I like the valuable information you provide in your articles.
